Carrying Out the Mission of Christ
First Avenue Presbyterian Church is strongly motivated to serve others in our community, locally and worldwide.
Helping Those In Need
We collect non-perishable food to provide food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas time for those in need of a helping hand, within the congregation and in the Denver Metro area. Financial donations and other assistance are pledged to the Presbyterian Mission Fund and Metro Caring. The Deacons also provide assistance to a number of local non-profit organizations and to individuals in need.
Children’s Program
The Church proudly hosts The Third Story Ministry, which runs the Whiz Kids after-school tutoring program on Monday evening, and Street Church on Wednesday and Thursday evenings during the school year. These programs provide meals on each of these evenings, serving children who find themselves in the most desperate economic and social circumstances in our Baker community.
Recovery Programs
The Board of Deacons, lends support to Sobriety House, a residential treatment center located directly across the street from the Church.
